Origin Trip
2027 Tea Trip
Taste it where it grows.
Small groups, travelling with Edward to the mountains, workshops and kilns behind the teas we teach. Tea-origin trips have run since 2015. The next one is being planned for 2027.
A few words from Edward
Steep yourself into the terroir, the leaf, the scene, and the people.
Thank you for being here, and for the quiet curiosity that brings you to tea. To me, tea has never been just a drink; it is a way to listen to the earth.
I am inviting a few of you to join me in 2027 to walk the private backyards of heritage masters and go where the maps don’t lead. We will hike into the bamboo silence of Zhenghe and work the charcoal fires of Wuyi, while designing our own teapot. This journey is demanding, honest, and deeply personal.
Join me for this trip across the origins of Green, Rock, Black, White, Phoenix teas and teapots. Meet the people behind the leaf.
2026 · Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Yunnan
In spring 2026 we followed five categories back to their source: green, rock, black, white and Phoenix oolong. Most days were spent in the private workshops of recognised Intangible Cultural Heritage inheritors, with makers including Liang Junde, Yang Feng and Wang Shunming.
Wuyi · 武夷山
Rock Tea
Charcoal roasting at the maker’s fire. Roast level as a decision you can read in the cup.
Zhenghe · 政和
White Tea
Bamboo hills, withering by hand and by weather. The simplest process, and the hardest to control.
Chaozhou · 潮州
Phoenix Oolong
Single-tree aroma lines on Phoenix Mountain, and the gongfu tradition that grew up around them.
Yixing · 宜兴
Zisha Teapots
One-on-one with a master potter. Each traveller designed and built a teapot, fired and shipped home to Canada.
